HHHRRRRRGKK!!! - Rabies
Rabies is Germ's sewer friend. Rabies is first introduced during Germ's second friendship quest. He is a North American Virginia opossum, ironically named Rabies 'to scare the other Possums into respecting [him]' by Germ.

Appearance[]
Rabies is an adult North American Virginia opossum, with gradient light to dark grey fur on his body, white fur on his head, large black eyes, and dark pink paws, nose, and tail. Unlike opossums in real life, Rabies can frequently be seen hanging by his tail.
Personality[]
Not much is known about Rabies' personality. He appears to be friendly towards Germ and Mae, the former of which visits in the sewers and feeds him junk food frequently. Although he is not a domesticated opossum, Rabies has been shown to learn tricks, such as "speaking" on command, and learning how to open a wrapped candy bar without help. During the later half of the game, if Mae met Rabies during Germ's second friendship quest, she can meet the opossum at the small red bridge just above his "sewer home" and talk to him about her thoughts and feelings on her issues. Rabies appears to listen, implying to some degree that he cares about Mae.
Background[]
Rabies was found by Germ when a body was taken out the sewers after the flood a few months prior to the game. Germ explains that he was sad, wet, and hungry so he bought him chips and ice cream. Germ didn't want him to get picked on by the other opossums so he named them something they're all afraid of, rabies.
During the few months Germ got to know Rabies, he taught the opossum how "speak" on command.
Story[]
During Germ's second friendship quest, he brings Mae to the small red bridge on the outskirts of Possum Springs to check out the weird graffiti he found in the sewers directly below. After Mae and Germ jump from the bridge down to the sewer entrance, Mae meets Rabies, Germ's "sewer friend". Germ tells Mae how he met and named Rabies, and then shows Mae that Rabies knows how to "speak".

Shortly after Rabies' introduction, he briefly leaves the sewer entrance. As Mae and Germ talk about the "cave paintings" on the sewer walls, Rabies reappears holding a wrapped Fiasco bar. he sits on his back legs, and without the help of either Mae or Germ, unwraps and begins eating the bar.
Following the hangout event between Mae and Germ, on Act 4, Day 3 and onward is when Mae can start visiting Rabies at the bridge. She frequently talks to Rabies about her issues and situation regarding the "ghost" of Possum Springs, and occasionally acts like Rabies is responding with his own stories. The epilogue, if Mae has visited Rabies prior, has Mae talking about her dreams of owning a farm in Idaho, living with her wife and two barn cats, before once again acting as though Rabies is replying. She says farewell to Rabies, wishing him well, before heading off.
