"Who's name are on the bills?" - Mr. Santello
Mr. Santello is the father of Beatrice Santello, and husband to the late Mrs. Santello. He is the owner of the Ol' Pickaxe.
Appearance[]
Like his daughter Bea, Mr. Santello is a dark-green crocodile with red eyes. He is male.
He has three dark-colored, oblong scales visible on the back of his head. He wears an orange striped sweater, blue pants, and light blue and pink socks.
Personality[]
Since the death of his wife, Mr. Santello has been a depressed and aimless individual. Despite his duties as the owner of the Ol' Pickaxe, he instead pushes them onto his daughters shoulders, and chooses to stay home to mourn.
He can be quite dismissive and authoritative towards Bea whenever his duties arise, often shutting her down whenever she voices her worries about getting his job done. He refuses to give Bea ownership of the shop, and is implied to often use his ownership over his daughter's head frequently.
Mr. Santello holds authority over the Ol' Pickaxe and it's employees, including Bea, and is the deciding factor on many of it's important decisions. He is also the only person who can fire employees.
Background[]
Before the start of the game, Both he, his daughter, and his then wife once lived in a house much like Mae's. Because of Mrs. Santello's passing, and his depressive episode following soon after, the Santello's lost their house, and had to move into the apartment seen in Mae's neighborhood ten months prior to the start of Night in the Woods.
During one of Bea's Hang-outs, Mae meets Mr. Santello and, depending on her choices, either wows him with her dinner choices, or disappoints him. A conversation between Him and Bea regarding his duties as the owner, and the two get into a disagreement that ends in Bea and Mae leaving the living room where Mr. Santello is. As Mae leaves the apartment, you see Mr. Santello sleeping upright on his couch.
During the epilogue chapter, Mr. Santello is among the few reoccurring characters that do not make an appearance, instead remaining notably absent from the Santello apartment. Whether this means he is part of the cult that the gang trapped in the caves is unknown.

- Mr. Santello does not enjoy hockey, and considers it a "sissy sport".
- Mr Santello is a huge Smelters fan, much like the Smelters Fans.
